CREATE A COTTON TEXTILE MILL MUSEUM

I started with a dream back in the 1990's, while I watched, documented and took photos of the demolition of the old Merrimack Textile Mill. We still have the original mill village located in West Huntsville. I envision a trolley ride, following the cotton from the RailRoad Depot to Lowe Mill then on to J.C. Brown (A building that should be turned into a Museum and listed on the National Historical Registar).

I have written many stories about the families who worked in the mills and about Huntsville history in general.Huntsville is a wonderful city with a colorful past that should be remembered for generations to come. I have a plan, just need the help to make this dream come true.

  2. I think this a wonderful idea! J.C.Brown should absolutely be preserved and the idea of bringing this all together to show another part of Huntsville's history is a great idea!

  3. I've only lived in this area for 7 years. I don't know anything about this part of our history, because there is not a museum or anything liek this! I LOVE the trolley "follow the cotton" idea. That is very creative.

Cotton Textile Museum; Very exciting, from RR Depot to The New South Huntsville's Super Project. The Mill workers in West Huntsvile, often on Sunday's after church, met at The Braham Spring Park for a family dinner and for friendly conversations with their neighbors.
