Think outside of the box

If we're going to revitalize Downtown, it's going to require thinking outside of the box. Honestly, the downtown is not that interesting if art or nightlife isn't your cup of tea. You need to look how difficult the City rules make it for new businesses to open. In addition, the high cost of rental space doesn't encourage the eclectic, interesting shops that many residents would like to see. If you want it to happen, then it has to be affordable. Perhaps the City could offer tax breaks to smaller businesses or rent assistance. Helping smaller businesses would be a better investment than giving tax breaks for a major retail chain.

  2. This is exactly what I'm saying! Tax breaks, incentives or something to get small businesses downtown. We need to make it accessible for entrepreneurs. The idea I posted for on-demand office space is just one way to do that. You're exactly right.

  3. I suggested using the place as a Wedding venue. Having a one stop wedding venue place including using the "Drive through" as a drive up wedding chapel. The other areas can be used by groups such as the Huntsville Ghost Walk who use alot of history recounting and a safe haven when it rains. There are also the other outdoor bicycle/horse carriage people who could use it as well. A historical/community/wedding venue.
