Van transport to bus lines

If developing countries can do it, why can’t we? When I served in a developing country in Africa and had no vehicle, I managed to quite efficiently and affordably get around major cities through a network of mini van transportation, which regularly served smaller communities for transport to larger hubs with bus lines.

Some smaller cities were served this way by private contractors, who agreed to run any regular routes that were profitable. Since most people could not afford their own vehicle, but still needed to get around and to work daily, this system worked adequately.
