Holiday Sing-Along in Big Spring Park
A night where the community can gather in Big Spring Park to sing carols, drink warm apple cider, and enjoy the lights of the Tinsel Trail...
We want you to tell us what holiday events, attractions and activities you would like to see in Downtown Huntsville during next year’s holiday season.

The City should plant a large Evergreen tree in Big Spring Park and use it for an Annual City Christmas Tree lighting like they do in other cities and in Washington.
Turn Big Spring Park into a traditional "Weinachts Markt" (Christmas Market) for a period of time around the Holidays. It would bring people back to the traditional "coming together" feel that we used to enjoy when we lived in Germany. The markets had food (gulash suppe in bread bowls, hot chocolate, chocolates, broetchen and bratwursts etc...) along with non-food vendors, and the vendors should have mostly small items ...more »

It would be lovely around the water of Big Spring Park.
Thanks for listening.

I have always wanted to visit times square to view the ball dropping on new years night. With the economy how it is, I don't plan on taking a trip to new york anytime soon to participate in the ball dropping to bring in the new year. It would definitely become a family tradition for me.

Let select school children (perhaps a contest at each school) paint the windows on downtown businesses with easily removable paint. Have them paint Christmas scenes that downtown visitors could enjoy. And be sure to give each child recognition for his/her contribution to the project.
Each Thursday or Friday night from Thanksgiving to Christmas, offer a pub crawl on the downtown trolley with discounted beverages at each participating bar and restaurant.
Decorate some of the taller downtown buildings with white lights during the holiday season. This would draw attention to the downtown, which would be visible from a distance. The lights could be on until midnight, all night, or at least until the downtown activities closed for the night. This could tie into the downtown Christmas tree at Big Spring Park which was a great idea!
Ball Drop, Fireworks and ANTOINE DODSON for New Year eve Celebration in BIg Spring Park with Tommy Battle! NYC had him for New Year now is our turn! :)
Offer a different "Wild Goose Chase" with downtown merchants during each week of the holiday season. Make it a scavenger hunt (find the goose in each of the stores) and be eligible for big door prizes.
Would it be possible to convert the little used railway that parallels Memorial Parkway into a greenway to Ditto Landing? Surely the railroad can't be profitable, and it would be a great north-south corridor for recreational cycling and bike commuting.
This road is pitiful. Everytime I'm on it I feel like I'm driving on an autocross track to dodge the holes to not bend my wheels, or damage suspension parts. Even before the recent rain it was bad. Repaving the whole road, from the Hwy 72 intersection to AT LEAST the Mill Rd intersection would save yourself time and money and headaches. Temporary fixes obvisously aren't working and the city is just wasting time and money. ...more »

Temporary fixes obvisously aren't working and the city is just wasting time and money. People use this road all the time, everyday. So it'd be justtt wonderful if it were actually driveable.
