The City should buy Hobbs Island near Ditto landing, connect it to the greenway system and make a large natural park with trails for citizens to enjoy. This island was used for farming years ago and now has went natural. This could be a beautiful addition to Huntsville parks.

Because of the popularity of the annual Bar-B-Que contest and since this event must surely bring in additional city revenues – it seems it could be an even bigger, more secure and much more easily accessed if it were held at the new and much larger venue of the famous John Hunt Park. Move Huntsville City hall across the street to the land currently occupied by the parking garage which takes up an entire block. Build the municipal building with underground parking to make up for the lost parking. Then demolish old city hall and police dept and fire station and make it some type of park to add to big spring green space. You could utilize the slope to make some type of amphitheater for concerts on the ...more »
