This may be more of a question rather than a suggestion but I thought I'd ask here... In the North-East corner of CRP (Research Park) across the street from Shaggy's, behind the Burlington Coat Factory, there is development happening. I'm assuming condos and apartments since that was part of the CRP Master Plan i.e. residential. As it is directly across Research Blvd (Hwy255) from MidCity, will there be a pedestrian/bicycle... more »
Just going forward with this idea and concept. I believe if Huntsville would have an open mind to beseech and engage with Apple,Google,Microsoft,Amazon and even Elon Musk's Boring Hyperloop Network we could be a world showcase of the "Smart City" of the future and beyond! Just think y'all in another 5 years or so we'll be able to summon an Uber Elevate VTOL Air Taxi around the world in some places. George Jetson here... more »
Back in the day Walt Disney envisioned EPCOT as an actual living breathing city.. Perhaps Huntsville along with a consortium of the top tech companies including the Disney Corporation itself could consider developing an actual EPCOT mixed use project here in Huntsville. By doing so, we could be the innovator and leader of the Smart Cities of the future! There'a no better place than Huntsville to make the next step for... more »
For me going from Madison to anywhere east of Hwy 255 (Research Blvd) crossing over the Bradford Dr. Bridge seems the most dangerous part of the journey. Cars are coming off of 255 at high rates of speed there is little or no warning to drivers that cyclist may be crossing over the on/off ramps and there is lots of debris... it is just plain scary. I think with the CRP Master Plan and the efforts to build complete streets... more »
Huntsville being a "High Tech" city maybe we could start streaming the Friday night football games from Milton Frank Stadium. This would give out of town, state and country alumni to watch their alma mater's games. Thanks. Roger
I was surprised on my recent trip to Huntsville that the signs for the Space Center were the same as always - sparse. After the big July 2019 celebration for the Apollo11 moon landing, I would think there would be signs at every entrance to Huntsville and all along the Parkway and I-565. Huntsville is Rocket City USA and should be proud of that name and have signs and billboards all over the city giving directions to... more »
Big Spring Park desperately needs public restrooms. The park is a wonderful place to hang out, especially with children, however there are no public restrooms.
I am not sure why all of the new developments along Bob Wallace and the Parkway have not been required to put in sidewalks. For example Whole Foods and the development across from there do not have sidewalks as well as the new Wings place and the new Burger place.
I've seen in the last few years where some museums and aquariums have monthly overnight sleepover programs for kids.I think this would be a great program to "LAUNCH" at the Space Center!
Please add more grass soccer fields and scrap the synthetic plans. The temperatures reach over 120 degree on a 90 degree day. It is unbearable. Players cleats actually melt. No one can stand barefoot and spectators avoid sitting on the fields. It cost ONE MILLION per field so it is obvious that this is simply an easy way to appease the soccer community, with limited maintenance, all the while charging %75 per HOUR... more »
The new AC Marriott Hotel completion certainly enhances the skyline of Big Spring Park, The Von Braun Center and the Huntsville Museum of Art. Although this is not something the city may be able to do, my thoughts are that the city may be able to encourage AC Marriott Hotels to capitalize on. Huntsville has a large artistic community. I t would be nice to see a local artist commissioned to design a mural for the "blank"... more »
With Huntsville expanding, it leaves the issue of what to do with our waste. Sadly, it appears that we're more committed to incineration of trash then recycling. With RANA here, we have the possibility of expanding recycling. However, RANA currently is extremely limited in taking only #1 and #2 plastic (many containers I buy seem to be #5), cardboard and paper. I am happy that it will possibly reach out to 20,000... more »
Instead of vainly trying to squeeze more parking inside downtown we should be building perimeter parking combined with ready access to free shuttles and safe pedestrian walkways. The was the solution I have seen in other older growing towns that were laid out in the pre-automobile era. An counter-intuitively, I never encountered anyone living in those places complaining about walking from the perimeter parking to their... more »
I have a simple question why have Huntsville Madison county leadership been so against bringing in really big bold fun exciting things for the folks here to do here. I as well as others have suggested on this site to bring in things such as theme parks water parks zip lining indoor skydiving ropes courses monorail transit unfortunately these suggestions are often shut down for a myriad of reasons. Why are some folks... more »
Is it possible to build a monorail over the existing railroad? The Railroad goes past some main places in town. Would the railroad be willing to elevate a passenger train? You could park at a station on south parkway and travel to the shopping areas along the way and get off at the medical district. Have a north and south route. the east and west could be west past the space and rocket center and Bridgestreet and Research... more »
