Dennis: I just don't want to see Huntsville stuck in an isolated "Hard to,Get to location " into perpetuity! I believe thiis is major reason along with our existing population base as why some businesses pass on Huntsville. We never had a Macy's , Lord and Taylor,Shaper Image or an IKEA and we've trying to get a Trader Joe's with no avail. Something needs to POP here in Huntsville because in someways from the outside... more »
As Huntsville has garnered the number two spot as 2nd largest city in Alabama I find it unacceptable that we don't have direct interstate access to Atlanta! If we're are to continue our growth we will need this ground and more direct air travel domestically and internationally as well. Those who don't think we merit this, just think about this. The Mall of America up in Minnesota has become a big travel destination for... more »
Example: my dad was a career DOD civiilian employee as well as my mom. Back in the 70’s we were stationed twice over in Korea. The second time I was student at Seoul American High School and we had “open campus” lunch on Yongsan! I’ve wondered why this can’t be an option for our local high school students? This should be on the table for open debate and consideration from all sides. Thanks Roger
Some folks here in Huntsville were against the Stars coming to town and even Madison Square Malll back in the day why so! Why do some folks whant to keep everything so basic and. Bare bones
Y’all the afore mentioned transportation platforms are definitely are a part of our future transportation and infrastructure worldwide! I see Elon Musk’s Hyper loop as a game changer! If this should manifest Huntsville should consider being a hub or having terminal on the loop. This would make sense as we here have been left off the interstate Hwy system here in North Alabama. We need a direct linear limited access... more »
II hope with Toyota/Mazda comiing in this might crack the door open to actual direct flights internationally between Huntsville international airport and either Haneda or Narita international airports that service Tokyo. And maybe Heathrowe/Gatwick or De’gaule/le’bourge as well
As a part of the “healthy huntsville” goal, I would love to see 5 points become a more walkable community. We need a wide sidewalk running parallel to Andrew Jackson or Rison. The distance is short, but the path is dangerous with fast cars zooming by. A walking trail/sidewalks connecting 5 points to downtown area would be AWESOME!
I like that kind of foreword thinking especially in the “tech age”! There is a Computer tech firm out in Denver has already done this on line in the last two election cycles. The first with Denver city elections and the 2nd with the county election as well. They are planning to have the platform ready for the 2024 general election.
I saw on the news yesterday that Walgreens drug store chain launched a drone delivery service up in Virginia. My Question is for us in Huntsville the city that built the Saturn V, when can we expect to see such innovative services available here such as self driving cars and air taxi services? Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the future and get used to it. As Doc Brown said in Back To The Future “We won’t need roads in the... more »
Mr. Madsen: I’ve always liked your replies to my suggestions. You eluded to “Space Tourism” here. There is an outfit in Las Vegas that offers folks to do ZERO G flights. Maybey someday if they might need an eastern operations base Huntsville International Airport would fit the bill. If this were ever to manifest maybe it could be part of Space Camp!
I have written to this site and have been in contact with Huntsville city and county leaders for some time now. If Huntsville/Madison county isn’t on the hook financially with Toyota/Mazda coming in. If we were to offer the same incentives to Cedar Fair or Six Flags and or even Disney production in locating to Huntsville Alabama. Let’s do it.
For those of our locall arts and culture how awesome would it be to schedule a dual performance of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and the Community Chorus to honor great broadway show tunes and movie themes and scores. With Steven Sondheim and John Williams as that evenings director and conductor as well! This might be considered as Mr. Sondheim and Mr.Williams are into thier 80’s now.
Hello all who read this! I am curious about this issue because I recently moved here from WA state. Here are my thoughts: In WA we receive our ballot in the mail with a voter's pamphlet. Typically we get them a few weeks before the election. Postage is already marked on the envelope. We read it at our leisure and submit our ballot in the mail. You can also drop them off. Typically banks, schools, and state buildings have... more »
Ladies and Gentleman of Huntsville and Madison County Alabama as well As North Alabama. If we are to continue to grow and expand, we will need to offer companies and buisnisses the same commiserate amenities from wich they moved from. As an example, When the US Arrmy Aviation Command was transferred here to Redstone from the St. Louis area. Those personnel were leaving the Rams of the NFL at the time as well the MLB Cardinals,... more »
I wrote a few city/traffic people about this before Cecil Ashburn ever closed, but never heard back. Martin Road east entrance has 3 lanes at the actual gate, but there are only two lanes approaching it - until about the last 25 yards where it splits. For Huntsville City, I'd wager the largest residential growth has been in east huntsville over the mountain, and with the reopening of Cecil Ashburn the flow on Martin... more »
