Old school activity folks

Thier was at a time horse back riding was available up on Monte Sano St.Park as well as a Superslide on the back parking lot of the original Parkway City Mall. Just wondering what can we do to for our "Teen Set" Just like the youth teen clubs have on military bases overseas? Having lived collectively 6 years overseas. I will tell everyone here that in most cases a DOD dependant kid has it a lot better overseas than here... more »

Resolving Poverty

I would love to see more people in our area be financially free, and experience less suffering from poverty. I love some of the new jobs that offer high wages & great benefits to match the current inflation. This will help now and in the future. I would like to see Huntsville keep affordable housing and as many as possible, positively everyone needs affordable housing, helping our Huntsville parents & locals to focus... more »

Climate change alarmist

What is up with so many of our young millennials freaking out that the world will be vaporized within the next 10 to12 years If we don't take severe draconian actions to "curb" The Impending Doom of Climate Change! Chill out folks, What have we been teaching our young kids in schools!!! To many HS and College and University Students are "freaked out and panicking" over this! Our public schools have become an incubator... more »

Stronger protection of our urban trees

What follows is the text of a petition submitted at the 11/21 City Council meeting. After circulating it for about seven weeks, in both hard copy and digital versions, we've gotten 570 signatures so far. Also, close to 100 comments have been made in the digital version -- reasons for why people support the idea of stronger tree protection. … we (the undersigned) feel that qualities such as a vital, healthy environment... more »

Monorail

I saw a posting some months ago about a monorail between Midcity and Briidge street. I would like to see Huntsville have a more open mind if a legit investor or group would want to do this here. By the way, back in the early 60's when Los Angeles was looking to upgrade their "transit systems" Walt Disney offered to put in a city wide monorail system as he did a Disneyland. He offered to finance the whole system but yet... more »

Inbound and outbound access

Dennis: I just don't want to see Huntsville stuck in an isolated "Hard to,Get to location " into perpetuity! I believe thiis is major reason along with our existing population base as why some businesses pass on Huntsville. We never had a Macy's , Lord and Taylor,Shaper Image or an IKEA and we've trying to get a Trader Joe's with no avail. Something needs to POP here in Huntsville because in someways from the outside... more »

Interstate access to Atlanta

As Huntsville has garnered the number two spot as 2nd largest city in Alabama I find it unacceptable that we don't have direct interstate access to Atlanta! If we're are to continue our growth we will need this ground and more direct air travel domestically and internationally as well. Those who don't think we merit this, just think about this. The Mall of America up in Minnesota has become a big travel destination for... more »

Expanding my last post!

Example: my dad was a career DOD civiilian employee as well as my mom. Back in the 70’s we were stationed twice over in Korea. The second time I was student at Seoul American High School and we had “open campus” lunch on Yongsan! I’ve wondered why this can’t be an option for our local high school students? This should be on the table for open debate and consideration from all sides. Thanks Roger

Autonomous mobility and Aiir taxi services

Y’all the afore mentioned transportation platforms are definitely are a part of our future transportation and infrastructure worldwide! I see Elon Musk’s Hyper loop as a game changer! If this should manifest Huntsville should consider being a hub or having terminal on the loop. This would make sense as we here have been left off the interstate Hwy system here in North Alabama. We need a direct linear limited access... more »

Walkable 5 Points

As a part of the “healthy huntsville” goal, I would love to see 5 points become a more walkable community. We need a wide sidewalk running parallel to Andrew Jackson or Rison. The distance is short, but the path is dangerous with fast cars zooming by. A walking trail/sidewalks connecting 5 points to downtown area would be AWESOME!

Voter by mail posting

I like that kind of foreword thinking especially in the “tech age”! There is a Computer tech firm out in Denver has already done this on line in the last two election cycles. The first with Denver city elections and the 2nd with the county election as well. They are planning to have the platform ready for the 2024 general election.

Walgreens drone delivery

I saw on the news yesterday that Walgreens drug store chain launched a drone delivery service up in Virginia. My Question is for us in Huntsville the city that built the Saturn V, when can we expect to see such innovative services available here such as self driving cars and air taxi services? Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the future and get used to it. As Doc Brown said in Back To The Future “We won’t need roads in the... more »
