Free Community Garden & gardening education center

It would be beneficial to not only the city & it's residents but the Earth as well. For far too long we have all been exposed to many chemicals in our foods without knowing what really goes into them. I feel it is a hit backwards that eating healthy is more costly than a balanced nutrient rich diet. We could have a designated building with property attached where our residents of Huntsville & surrounding areas could come ...more »

Let's Lunch Local Tweet

Utilizing the most appropriate form of technology for this task (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), and perhaps initiated by the city, food trucks and locally owned restaurants should put together an announcement hub of where they will be parked (trucks), if they are running a special benefiting charity/non-profits, or other special lunchtime events. I am thinking that young professionals and college students (especially if trucks ...more »

High Speed Internet Connections to Washington DC

High-speed internet connections seems to be one of the common themes on this message board, and I am in agreement with the other people that have posted in favor of this sort of thing. (Larry Mason and a user called Scarface primarily) I think the one of the things that could give this the momentum it needs is to pay attention to the demographics of the businesses located here in Huntsville that also have significant ...more »

Agricultural Fair

Huntsville would benefit from a real County Fair highlighting the agricultural accomplishments of the community, which serves as both a formal (4-H) and informal (exhibits/competitions/livestock shows) educational exhibition, as well as promotes local agricultural related industry (ie, Belle Chevre/Happy Heart, Historical Farms, Garden Clubs, Bee Keepers, Hobby Farms, Equestrian Clubs, Artists, Co-ops, CT Garvins, Tractor ...more »

Aesthetics Incentives

The city/county should offer incentives and free or discounted design consultations for locally owned businesses in blight areas to renew their signage, repaint and update their facades and add some kind of minimal but uniform landscaping. It really wouldn't take much to enhance the areas, it would be cheaper to fix up what is there than try to bring in big corporations to build new stores, it would help current local ...more »

Arts & Entertainment District

The placement of Walmart should remain at Drake Avenue

Any other placement of any Walmart within the 35801 area would be quite a disturbance. The small Walmart on Drake is fine where it is and it should not be shuffled somehwere else within this prime area. We do not, absolutely not, need a huge Walmart in the central Huntsville area. It will be a disruption, an annoyance and a traffic nightmare. Nearby residents do not seem to want this huge discount store in or ...more »
