Put the islands back in Big Spring Park

I have had several requests from friends regarding the recent renovation of Big Spring Park downtown. All of them want the islands put back into the park, for a variety of reasons. It gives the birds a home, where they can be safe away from human populations when they want. Also, it makes the park more interesting, beautiful, and enjoyable.

More Green Parks

Is there a way the city can build and/or promote more green parks with shade trees, flower beds, walking trails, etc?

When I search for parks in Huntsville, I basically only see ball parks. While not bad, these don't beautify the city.

To see how this has been done locally, check out Decatur's parks.

Huntsville's Riverfront - Ditto Landing

What is your best idea to recapture and revitalize Huntsville's 2.25 miles of riverfront?

Drive-in Theatre

Build a new Drive-in in Huntsville. One of the areas in Huntsville could be re-purposed as a Drive-in Theater. there is not one of these within an hour of here and it could be a big draw. A place on the river or near Ditto Landing might be a good location, or near the new dog park also.

Greenways are my Favorites Places

I live 1/2 mile from the Aldridge Creek Greenway and love it. The walking and bike path is a fantastic resource for exercise and transportation. My only lament is the lack of destinations available and connections. Extending the creek trail all the way to the Target shopping center should be a quick solution to the connections problem.

Marketplace on the Square

You can feel the positive vibe that exists in our great downtown. From the successes of the Green Street Market, the Sidewalk Arts Stroll, and the numerous parades and events, there are many to thank for this. It's been almost six years since I presented the following concept, so I thought with all the recent activity downtown, and the tireless efforts of so many, including the great work of the Arts Council, the downtown ...more »

Laser Show on West Side City Hall

I'd like to see a laser show similar to that at Stone Mt, GA, be done on the large west side of the City Hall Building. I envision it being sponsored on a weekly basis during the "outdoor" months by one of the major Huntsville corporations. A possible scenario could be: 1. Pre-Coulmbus Indians 2. John Hunt and pioneers 3. Cotton comes to Huntsville 4. Civil War 5. Reconstruction 6. Spanish American War and Buffaloe ...more »
