Downtown Jobs

I would love to see an effort made to attract tech companies and other businesses to downtown Huntsville. So much emphasis is being placed on restaurants, retail, and apartments in the downtown area. This is a great thing, and I am so excited to see the developments continue. I grew to love being in downtown Huntsville so much that I decided to buy a home downtown. I was strongly considering moving to another city a few ...more »

High Density Housing at Bridge Street

I’m concerned that Bridge Street will not survive over the long term and will eventually go down the way other malls have in the area. In other cities I see shopping malls like Bridge Street integrated with high-density housing on the same site with the mall complex. That is my suggestion. Somehow provide zoning and encouragement for the development of high density housing on the Bridge Street property. Add apartments, ...more »

Add Restaurants, Oddity, Boutique Shops Downtown

Huntsville has done a decent job of increasing diversity of retail/recreation Downtown. There's still a lot that needs to happen for us to be come a "destination" city though. Huntsville could encourage more local (non-chain) restaurants to open up Downtown (especially mid-priced semi-casual restaurants that appeal to young professionals or young families.) A few more sports bars with a family atmosphere would be good ...more »

Connect the parking lots!

I would like to see developers and property management companies for retail properties be required to connect their parking lots with one another. This would help ease congestion on heavily traveled routes like University and along Memorial Parkway. In a lot of cases, shoppers are currently forced to go back onto the main road in order to visit a businesses next door. A good example of this are the parking lots for ...more »

The placement of Walmart should remain at Drake Avenue

Any other placement of any Walmart within the 35801 area would be quite a disturbance. The small Walmart on Drake is fine where it is and it should not be shuffled somehwere else within this prime area. We do not, absolutely not, need a huge Walmart in the central Huntsville area. It will be a disruption, an annoyance and a traffic nightmare. Nearby residents do not seem to want this huge discount store in or ...more »

Bose store would be fantastic

We really need a bose store in Huntsville. Their sound is fantastic and it would be easier for everyone to test their products before purchasing them. You can test some products at target, best buy, and the apple store, but a bose store has everything.
