Huntsville continues to grow and expand in all directions and it seems at a faster pace in the last couple of years. Huntsville has done a very good job creating green spaces and needs to continue to do so. I believe we need to get creative with our green spaces adding art, culture, beauty, and versatility. I believe we need to connect all of our bike trails and connect these trails to neighborhoods for easy access. ...more »
I think a Huntsville App would be fantastic for tourists and locals. Let's say we are walking by the Art Museum and want to know more about it. We see a sign in front of the museum which gives directions to the App and tells us to put #1 on the App and zoom there is a video and explanation on what to see with costs and hours. Next, we see a sign which indicates The Big Spring Park and we learn about the highlights ...more »
Madison County could take a lesson from Mackinaw City, Michigan. All employees in Mackinaw City businesses are trained in customer relations. One does notice going from store to store in Mackinaw City that employees smile, and take a special interest in their customers. Refreshing! Customer service in Madison County generally needs improvement!
Huntsville has a high population of highly creative individuals of all ages and backgrounds. We need to nurture this innovativeness by providing hiking or biking trails through our forests. While it may seem obvious that a good hike through a forest or up a mountain can cleanse your mind, body, and soul, science is now discovering that hiking can actually change your brain… for the better! Aside from the almost instant ...more »
It would be wonderful for people on government assistance to be able to get a job. Most people feel much better getting a pay check rather than a government check. I would like to see private funds available to help these people find a job. The reasons I can think of for getting a job are: education, personal hygiene, dress, good teeth, resume, problem solving skills, self-esteem, motivation, and others. If we could ...more »
I like the "art" around the Art Museum and the new"art light" soon to be completed downtown and others. I also like the hanging flowerers downtown in the warmer season. I think it would be a good idea to expand on these ideas downtown and the area around Huntsville. Driving into Huntsville on 72 does not look appealing in many areas especially in Madison. It doesn't look much better on Memorial. Some kind of art, ...more »
Could this be done here?
I do like the new direction signs in the downtown area but would love to have all street signs converted to LED signs in the downtown area These are outstanding at night!
Middle school and high school students have many good unique, creative ideas that adults just don't think about. At Eglin Airforce Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida local fifth grade students worked on a project called Marsville. The problem was to come up with ways a colony on mars would grow food, communicate, get water, dispose of waste etc. Students would gain knowledge through research. Speakers were brought ...more »
We have many beautiful and varied churches in the downtown area. To help us appreciate the different building architectures and understand the various religious beliefs, a guided tour of the churches would be educational for local citizens and tourists. Who better than the head of each church giving the tours weekly or monthly. Who knows, church attendance might increase in Huntsville and a better appreciation of others. ...more »
Even though the idea doesn't get many votes I still think it is a good idea to build a stadium downtown Huntsville if done correctly. First, it has to make money. Second people need to support it. The stadium could have a solar footprint. Put a solar roof over the stadium and use the field all year. Flexible, lightweight fabric could extend the possibilities for solar power and fit in places not practical for large ...more »
On my way to church each Thursday I notice that we have a roofed area just before the Veterans park under I 565. I thought it would be nice to make a basketball court that would be out of the weather for anybody to play. Even better if we could connect it to a bike trail and add lights. Of course solar panels and LED bulbs.
Other areas of 565 might also be used.
